Fast File Transfer Now
JSCAPE recently published a whitepaper titled How to Boost File Transfer Speeds 100x Without Increasing Your Bandwidth. This whitepaper discusses the known problems with TCP based file transfer protocols such as FTP and SFTP over high-latency networks and how to solve them using AFTP (Accelerated File Transfer Protocol).

Accelerated File Transfer
AFTP (Accelerated File Transfer Protocol) is a file transfer protocol developed by JSCAPE. AFTP is designed to accelerate file transfers over high speed networks that are unable to fully utilize network throughput due to high latency and packet loss. Under these conditions AFTP can accelerate file transfers up to 100 times faster than FTP and other file transfer protocols.

For some entities in the health care industry, file transfer activities are no longer as simple as before. Measures have to be taken to make sure violations aren't made against HIPAA. FTP services, perhaps the most widely used services for transferring large files over the Internet, now require enhancements to ensure that data considered as electronic protected health information (ePHI) are protected throughout an FTP transfer.

Haven't yet found any compelling reason to deploy data security solutions like managed file transfer (MFT) and data loss prevention (DLP)? Looks like the European Union is about to give you one. If provisions in the leaked draft of the regulation for the new European Data Protection Directive get carried over into the final form of the law, EU companies as well as global companies who operate in EU-member states will have to improve IT security in order to comply with the regulation or risk incurring heavy penalties.

Overview
While encryption keeps your file server data safe from prying eyes, it doesn’t provide any protection against viruses or trojans. To prevent existing files in your server from getting infected by malware that may be accompanying a newly uploaded file, you can configure JSCAPE MFT Server to work with antivirus software.
