JSCAPE 2024.4: Enhancements to security and SaaS
JSCAPE by Redwood wraps up the year with several security updates, plus enhancements to our SaaS environment, to get your 2025 started off safe. Best of all, we’re excited to announce the design phase for a full UI refresh of JSCAPE is now underway! Stay secure and start strong in 2025 with JSCAPE Version 2024.4.
Note: Releases will now indicate whether a capability is a net-new feature or an enhancement, i.e., an update to an existing feature.
NEW FEATURES IN 2024.4
Support for MAC algorithm
Releasing in 2024.3.2 in late December
When exchanging files, you need to ensure files are authentic to avoid opening up malicious or compromised files. One way to do this is by leveraging a Message Authentication Code (MAC). A MAC is generated for a file or its contents and is stored alongside the file using a secret key. When the file is later accessed, the MAC can be recomputed and compared to the stored MAC to verify that the file hasn’t been altered while in transit. Verify your file’s integrity and authenticity by using MACs within JSCAPE.
NEW ENHANCEMENTS IN 2024.4
SAML authentication in JSCAPE SaaS
To simplify both access control and user authentication, many organizations leverage SSO/SAML. However, due to architecture differences between JSCAPE and some SAML providers, some SAML redirects would not execute as intended. We have made changes to how JSCAPE redirects traffic to ensure any SAML configuration leveraged by our users works as intended.
Performance optimization in JSCAPE SaaS
When moving data within a JSCAPE SaaS instance, both MFT Gateway and MFT Agent must work together. However, this can sometimes lead to longer latency times. We have made several backend optimizations in how MFT Gateway and Agent work with one another to reduce latency and minimize any potential performance issues so you can move files within JSCAPE SaaS more efficiently.
Annual update to MFT Gateway
Releasing in 2024.3.2 in late December
Get stronger edge security in MFT Gateway with our annual update. MFT Gateway is often used for secure B2B file sharing, living at the edge of an organization's network, acting as a secure “front desk” when receiving files for intake, all without exposing the organization's network or forcing changes to firewall settings. This is a great option for secure file sharing if you have smaller trading partners that may lack a server, or if you have complex firewall settings you want to leave in place.
An annual update is needed to refresh MFT Gateway’s open-source libraries, code structure and security to the latest versions, helping protect our customers from any risk that may be associated with older open-source versions.
UI modernization now in progress
We are excited to share that we have begun work on redesigning the look and feel of JSCAPE! Stay tuned for more updates on the modern look we are developing for our award-winning managed file transfer solution.
