OFTP is a secure protocol built to counter various network-based threats while taking advantage of the unparalleled speed and affordability potential of the Internet. What do you need to exchange EDI documents via OFTP?
OFTP can operate over TCP/IP, which means it can run on the Internet. This has the possibility of becoming a great advantage, as a large part of the needed infrastructure should already be in place and deploying an OFTP service wouldn't require much capital.
OFTP also supports data compression, which means transactions can be completed much faster. In addition to that, it’s designed to support extremely large files (up to petabytes order-of-magnitude), making it very suitable for transporting large CAD, CAM, or CAE drawings. Another advantage of using OFTP is that if there’s a network disruption, OFTP can simply resume at the point of disconnection.
Since OFTP was designed for businesses, transactions are readily supported by digitally signed electronic delivery receipts (similar to AS2 MDN). The electronic receipts also prevent potential conflicts resulting from disagreements on whether a file was successfully delivered or not.
JSCAPE makes managed file transfer so much simpler and can support any protocol — AS2, FTP/S, SFTP, HTTP/S, WebDAV, cloud and more.
